THE CUSTOM DEF LEPPARD CD BOX SET

I designed this thing f’ing from scratch.

Painstakingly, I painted every side of each box by hand, with inks I made myself. The blues were mixed from berries I found in a dark forest, and the reds were derived from the blood of a grizzly who attacked me while chopping down a great oak tree, the wood from which I would later use to carve each box with my own two hands. That was a crazy weekend.

Or something like that… Whatever.

Anyway, I made these custom designed and then later handcrafted (of course by someone else, relax) wooden CD box sets for some of this band’s VIPs guests. They came out so great that we ended up producing several others similar sets for the band’s management team later on that year.

These things have 3 layers that can all spin around, they’ve got velvet interiors, hold 10 CDs, are each handcrafted from a single brick of wood, they voted for Obama twice and speak 4 different languages. They came out great and it was a great pleasure, as well as quite a challenge, developing them. The wireframes and CADs were a little challenging at first, as was the math needed to get the outside paneling accurate, and not warped or distorted. After several months of development though, the band and I were super pumped on how everything turned out!
