I WAS BORN IN 82. BETA MILLENIAL. ANALOG ARTIST.

We didn’t have these new-fangled, souped-up, high-tech, 4K retina, solid-state, quantum, AI, comically priced, platinum coated, cage-free, Cyberdyne Skynet, dilithium crystal, Grammy-nominated, supercomputers back in my day yo! You cray!?

I used colored pencils and an eraser. For you 90’s kids, google those words. Email me with questions.

I called this piece “Face” and I think it got me an A at some point. Junior year maybe? It took me about 2 weeks and can be yours if the price is right!

A PROFILE IN LIES :  TRUMP POSTER DESIGN

Disclaimer (ohh…intense):

I’m assuming the three people who ever actually read this little whatnot, might argue that dropping politically charged content on your portfolio, or ‘conquer the world through tasteful profanity and downright delicious design’ website, is a faux pas… Not only do you risk alienating any eager clientele who regrettably find themselves on the opposite side of your own political particulars, but you also risk driving away the ideologically compatible folks, simply because (up until about 2016 anyway) mixing business with politics read as not only inappropriate but rather downright gauche.

Now, this may all be absolutely true, but fucking f*** that reserved nonsense. I’ll happily work with anyone, regardless of affiliation or ideology, as long as they bring with them a healthy sense of humor. ?

Ok…what I’m disclaiming about: In December of 2017, New York Times columnists David Leonhardt and Stuart A. Thompson, brought to record a list of all Trump’s ‘alternative facts’ to date. Having never actually heard of this little publication before, I thought I should do something to showcase their efforts Otherwise, who would ever read it, right? And just so you know, since I posted this design, that little local paper signed up millions of subscribers and now represents one of the largest newspapers in the world. You’re welcome The Times.

Anyway, about a year of Trump’s tweets, press conference mutterings, tarmac stammerings, and jackassery that year, I imported, formatted and masked into his unmistakable profile. The title is a slightly awkward reference to JFK’s Profiles in Courage (my Dad gave me that idea). And for my final trick of the evening, I embedded an image of Donald’s gorgeous mug within the text itself, so that as you move away from the canvas, a visual representation of how ugly all these lies really are, begins to appear.

Ok, that’s it. Let me know what you think. Good or bad. I wanna hear it, just don’t lie to me. ?

ABOUT ME

Long-time art director and graphic designer. After graduating from the University of Colorado with a BFA in digital art, I joined Rage Unlimited, a Boulder-based creative firm specializing in apparel design, corporate identity, and product development. I’ve worked closely with many Colorado businesses as well as a variety of national and international companies and campaigns.

Drawn to design as a means to explore new ideas, I plan to continue helping people and organizations communicate their purpose in imaginative and exploratory ways that resonate with their unique audiences.

I would consider myself a creative, motivated and highly adaptable designer and art director with over 8 years of practical experience in a variety of different marketing and graphic arenas. Over the course of my career, both as an art director and a freelancer, I have had the opportunity to work on a wide range of projects for an even more diverse set of clients. This diversity is what encouraged and allowed me to develop an adaptive nature as well as versatile skill set. I am driven, have a great work ethic and pride myself on always taking the initiative.
